I came upon a rustic bridge
That spanned a tumbling stream.
I slowly walked across the planks
And soon began to dream.
I looked down upon the rippling stream
Splashing its way as if unseen.
Beneath, lay pebbles clear and bright,
Left many a workman ready for bed.
With tadpoles scurrying in delight.

A twig floats past beneath the bridge
My attention promptly drew,
I follow it on its merry way
And watch it float from view.
Twig: I wonder where you will rest
As you sail this rivulet,
Will you reach the open sea
Or snuggle 'neath an overhanging tree.

As you disappear from view
You rouse me from my reveries.
Where upon I made a vow
To treasure all such memories.
