Bagillt Dock was one of the most important docks on the Dee. It had a regular
passenger service running between Liverpool, Hoylake and Parkgate. A return
fare to Liverpool would cost about l7p in the mid 1800's. The docks also
handled large quantities of Coal and Lead Ore. Like the Dee itself, business
tended to Ebb and Flow until the new railways dawned and finally killed off
the Docks.
