Hedgehog by Ron Plummer
Memories

To view our village up on high
with memories it gives of times gone by.
Times of laughter times so sad
Was it good was it bad.
Little cottages, two up and two down
Made many large families frown.
A hard days work in coal or in lead
Left many a workman ready for bed.
Many an hour with a walk on the cob
New bypass road and traffic does throb.
This traffic and turmoil brings our future,
Its memories we need with time to nurture.
